We're very pleased to announce that the Sailing School is returning to Jackson's Point and Sail Georgina! In 2009, we are offering lessons for beginner and intermediate sailors, both youths (age 10-13) and adults. This program is designed to introduce beginners to sailing while still challenging the intermediate sailor.
The Canadian Yachting Association’s Learn to Sail standards provide safe, standardized instruction for recreation and competition in sailing dinghies. White Sail Levels I, II, and III are the introductory levels covering safety, seamanship, and boat handling. Beginners are taught the basic skills of sailing. In order to receive CYA White Sail certificates, participants must perform on-the-water sailing tasks under instructor direction for a designated amount of time. There is no written test; the emphasis is learning through FUN activities.
The Sail Georgina sailing school is taught using the club's CL 16 sailboats. Our OSA certified instructors will first teach the theory on land, and then the participants will take to the water and sail for themselves while the instructors follow (and teach) from a coach boat. The 2009 sailing school schedule is now available, and you can register for the school online. Don't forget to watch the short videos from previous years.
